Neighbors Helping Newborns: How To Help

How YOU Can Help

Help us to make a difference in the lives of local families in crisis. Neighbors Helping Newborns is an all-volunteer organization, so there are always jobs waiting for willing hands! Read on to find the perfect project for you.

Sew, Knit, or Crochet

If you can sew, knit, or crochet, Neighbors Helping Newborns needs you! Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks, or sewing machine to the next work group meeting so we can put you to work making customized clothing, blankets, and quilts for hospitalized babies.

Many volunteers also work from home to complete projects throughout the month, so contact us if you would like us to send you patterns for the specialized items we sew, knit, and crochet.

Pack, Sort, or Cut

If you don't sew or knit, come to a work meeting and lend a hand with other tasks, such as sorting donations, cutting out patterns, and packaging infant clothing. You can make a difference in the lives of local families in crisis!

Donate

We collect new and gently worn infant clothing (sized “0-3 mos.” and “preemie”) that hospitals can send home with babies who lack the basic necessities. There is an urgent need for layette items like sleepers, onesies, socks and cardigans, as well as crib-size quilts and receiving blankets.

Donations of polar fleece and baby fabric (both knit and cotton blends) are also gladly accepted.

Gift cards to Walmart, Target, BabiesRUs, Kohl’s, and Staples are also greatly appreciated.

Deliver

Do you live or work near one of the hospitals that we serve? Help us deliver our donations each month!

Recycle

Help support mothers and babies in your community — and help out Mother Earth at the same time — by participating in our recycling program!

Help us to raise money by donating your used cartridges and electronics, such as:

  • inkjet or laser printer cartridges
  • old cell phones (and accessories)
  • laptop computers
  • PDAs (i.e., Blackberries, Palm Pilots)
  • iPods

Neighbors Helping Newborns will receive cash back for every item that is recycled. Visit our website to find the nearest drop-off location or to inquire about starting a recycling program at your office.

Shop at Shaw's

Support babies in your community while you shop for groceries! Register your Shaw’s Rewards Card online and a portion of your purchases each week will automatically be donated to Neighbors Helping Newborns.

Sponsor

We offer sponsorship opportunities for individuals and businesses. Contact us today to learn more about supporting our mission to provide comfort and necessities to your newest neighbors!
